Announcing the End of the Chicago Wants Conan Campaign

As you've probably noticed, our little campaign hasn't really taken off. After the initial surge we saw due to coverage by Chicagoist and others, our numbers have stayed relatively constant and we have attracted very little attention. It is therefore appropriate, we feel, that we conclude this campaign. We thank everyone for their support and effort, and with heavy hearts announce the end of the Chicago Wants Conan campaign.

  2. To be honest, you didn't do much to attract attention. He's not allowed to have a new show for a while anyways, that was part of his deal with NBC. Give it a little time- and make a legitimate attempt to spread the word.

We are sorry to disappoint you. We wish you had showed your enthusiasm and offered your support earlier.

As much as we would love for Conan to come to Chicago, there has been been relatively little interest outside of a few dedicated people that have provided blog entries, photos and such. And there has been no reason to expect that to change. As a group, we never reached an interest level which would have allowed us to make ourselves known on a greater scale -- i.e. enough to organize a rally, issue a press release, contact local TV, etc.

We have therefore decided to end our campaign. However, we welcome others to carry on the torch, and would be willing to hand over the reigns with our best wishes and will provide any other support we're capable of providing.

But for now, we feel we've failed in our efforts, whether it is our fault or not is of little consequence, we wish things had gone differently, but there's something to be said for knowing when you're licked and moving on.
